Air Serbia Launches Service to Shanghai, Adding Third Route to China
Air Serbia has launched a new route from Belgrade to Shanghai/Pudong on January 11.
Flights operate twice a week, leaving Belgrade on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and returning from Shanghai/Pudong on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The Airbus A330-200 aircraft is used for this route. The flight duration is 11 hours and 15 minutes from Belgrade, and 13 hours and 20 minutes from Shanghai/Pudong. This schedule will continue into the summer.
To celebrate the launch of the first flight, a ceremony was held in Belgrade, attended by Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, as well as Serbian government officials, the Chinese Ambassador to Serbia, authorities, and industry representatives.
This new route to China follows the Belgrade to Tianjin route opened in December 2022, and the Belgrade to Guangzhou route launched on September 30 this year, marking the airline’s third route to the country. It responds to the increasing demand between the two countries, facilitated by visa exemptions and a free trade agreement.
Air Serbia has carried 4.44 million passengers in 2024, a 6% increase from the previous year. The airline owns 27 aircraft and operates 87 routes to 33 countries across four continents. The Airbus A330-200 aircraft, the third wide-body aircraft in its fleet, arrived in Belgrade in early October and has been deployed on the government-chartered flights from Tokyo/Narita to Belgrade.
