JAL Deploys Boeing 777-300ER for Tokyo/Haneda-Helsinki Route
Korean Air Introduces Airbus A350-1000, Launches Routes to Kansai and Fukuoka
Korean Air has introduced the Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Operations will commence tomorrow, January 27, initially on Japanese routes.
In anticipation of the global increase in passenger demand and further globalization following the integration with Asiana Airlines, the airline had placed an order for a total of 33 aircraft, including six of the same model and 27 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, in April 2024. Both models will cover all existing Korean Air routes and enable the development of new long-haul routes.
Until March 29, Korean Air will operate two round trips per day on the Seoul/Incheon to Osaka/Kansai route and one round trip per day on the Seoul/Incheon to Fukuoka route, making a total of six flights per day. Future deployment to destinations such as Taipei, Madrid, and Rome is planned.
The aircraft offers a total of 311 seats, with 28 Prestige Class seats in business class and 283 seats in economy class. Prestige Class seats are configured in a “1-2-1” staggered layout, with an aisle for every seat, featuring a width of 56 cm and a length of 195.5 cm. Each seat comes with an 18.5-inch touch-operated monitor. Economy class has a “3-3-3” configuration with a seat pitch of 81-83 cm and a seat width of 45 cm, equipped with the Panasonic Avionics eX3 entertainment system. Korean Air has designed and manufactured cargo doors located at three positions: forward, aft, and bulk.
Ahead of the operational start, from July 2024 for six months, pilots and instructors underwent special training at Airbus’s Asia Training Center in Singapore. A dedicated maintenance team also completed multiple training sessions certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and will engage in negotiations with manufacturers to facilitate in-house aircraft maintenance training and engine maintenance.
