Japan Airlines (JAL) will sell Komasa Kanosuke Distillery’s “Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION” and “Single Malt Kanosuke” on its international flights from February 1 to March 31.
The aim is to promote “Japanese Craft Whisky,” made in small-scale distilleries across Japan, as a reason for travelers to visit various regions. As the sixth installment, two types of whiskey from Komasa Kanosuke Distillery in Kagoshima will be available for purchase. Only one bottle per passenger per flight is allowed.
“Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL 2024 LIMITED EDITION” is a limited edition derived from the Japanese-style pot still whiskey “Kanosuke HIOKI POT STILL,” using base spirits made from barley and malt distilled at Hioki Distillery and matured in barrels at Kanosuke Distillery’s warehouse. The whiskey is vatted from base spirits stored in new American white oak casks, bourbon casks, and shochu richa casks, offering a unique balance of bitterness and sweetness. It is available exclusively to First and Business Class passengers through the international flight pre-order service at a price of 15,000 yen (including tax).
“Single Malt Kanosuke” is a whiskey utilizing the traditional distillation and barrel aging techniques honed in the production of “Mellow Kozuru,” Japan’s first barrel-aged shochu. It is priced at 9,000 yen (including tax).
