ANA Flight Experiences Turbulence Causing Fracture to Crew Member; Classified as Aviation Accident
Japan Fair Trade Commission Approves ANAHD’s Acquisition of Nippon Cargo Airlines Shares
The Japan Fair Trade Commission has approved ANA Holdings’ acquisition of shares in Nippon Cargo Airlines.
The commission had received a notification of the acquisition plan under the Antimonopoly Act from ANA Holdings and conducted a review. As a result of the review, they notified that there would be no cease-and-desist order issued.
The commission determined that, in the international air cargo transport business involving competitive routes of the ANA Group and Nippon Cargo Airlines, including routes from the United States to Japan and those routes to and from China, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, and Europe, it does not substantially restrict competition in certain business areas.
Regarding routes from Japan to the U.S., particularly those to and from Los Angeles and Chicago, it was considered to substantially restrict competition in the market for large cargo. However, the issues would be resolved by providing cargo space through a Block Space Agreement with Polar Air Cargo Worldwide on flights from Tokyo/Narita to Los Angeles and Chicago, and by appointing a monitoring trustee for continuous compliance monitoring and regular reporting to the Fair Trade Commission.
It is also mentioned that overseas authorities are conducting reviews, and the Fair Trade Commission has proceeded with the review while exchanging information with China’s State Administration for Market Regulation and Singapore’s Competition and Consumer Commission.
