Booking.com Continues to Send Customers to Suspicious Travel Company Despite Unlicensed ‘White Taxi’ Allegations
NearMe and Toyota Boshoku have jointly developed a “Shared Ride Vehicle.”
“Shared ride” is a type of ride-sharing where multiple groups share one vehicle for transportation. Currently, the service is offered at 16 airports nationwide and in surrounding cities.
The newly developed “Shared Ride Vehicle” is a revamped version of the Toyota Hiace Wagon business shuttle “Fine Tech Tourer,” redesigned based on user feedback. In the usual 8-seat rear passenger area, 4 seats are staggered slightly forward and backward to create a private space. It is equipped with “MOOX-RIDE,” a content experience support system developed by Toyota Boshoku, which provides information on facilities and tourist spots along the driving route, advertisements, and other content based on vehicle location and passenger attributes, combined with an acoustic system for individual spaces.
Operations are handled by SmartShuttle, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NearMe, and have been underway in the Tokyo area since January 23.
