NEXCO East Japan Implements Proactive Road Closures
NEXCO Central Japan has announced the possibility of implementing preventive road closures from the night of February 7th to the 8th, to prevent vehicle congestion due to severe weather.
The preventive road closures may take place on the following routes: the Tomei Expressway and Meishin Expressway between Komaki Junction (JCT) and Kyoto East Interchange (IC), the Shin-Meishin Expressway and Isewangan Expressway between Mie Kawagoe IC and Kusatsu JCT and between Kameyama JCT and Kameyama West JCT, the Tokai-Kanjo Expressway between Shin-Yokkaichi JCT and Dai-An IC and between Yoro IC and Ono-Kobe IC, the Hokuriku Expressway between Maibara JCT and Tsuruga IC, the Tomeihan Expressway between Kuwana East IC and Ise-Seki IC, the Ise Expressway between Ise-Seki IC and Tsu IC, the Maizuru-Wakasa Expressway between Tsuruga JCT and Wakasa Mihama IC, and the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway between Ichinomiya Kisogawa IC and Ichinomiya JCT. Additionally, it is noted that parallel national routes may also be closed.
Motorists who are compelled to use expressways are urged to equip winter tires, carry tire chains, and consider broad detours to avoid snowy areas.
