Tokyo Expressway to Abolish ‘KK Line’ on April 5 at 8 PM
NEXCO East Japan will open the Tsukuba Nishi Smart Interchange (IC) on the Metropolitan Inter-City Expressway (Ken-O Expressway) at 3 PM on March 23.
Located in Shimona, Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture, it connects to the main line between Josou IC and Tsukuba Chuo IC, available 24 hours. It has a stop-and-go type design, and all vehicle types equipped with ETC devices can use it.
The distance between ICs is approximately 11 kilometers, making it the second longest section on the Ken-O Expressway. With its opening, an additional 10,000 people will be within a 10-minute reach of each IC. Access from the land development area along the Tsukuba Express to the Ken-O Expressway will be improved, promoting further attraction of businesses and commercial facilities, creation of jobs, and retention of the regional population, thus contributing to the revitalization of the area.
