ZIPAIR Tokyo to Introduce Boeing 787-9 Aircraft, 10 Units Scheduled Post-2027
Amakusa Airlines will suspend all flights until March 26 due to a lightning strike on the aircraft.
The lightning strike occurred during flight MZ201 from Amakusa to Kumamoto on March 18. This flight was operated by Japan Air Commuter (JAC) as a joint operations aircraft, using an ATR42-600 model aircraft (tail number JA01JC), in place of the company’s own aircraft, which was under regular maintenance. After the lightning strike, it returned to Amakusa, and all subsequent flights have been canceled.
Time will be required to confirm the damaged areas, consider repair methods, and understand the repair work period. A total of 88 flights are expected to be canceled. Full refunds will be provided to passengers with reservations, along with guidance on alternative transportation options.
