Cathay Pacific Airways: Low-altitude Flight for Airport Development Centennial at Victoria Harbour
Cathay Pacific Airways will conduct a low-altitude flight on March 30, recreating the legendary approach of the former Kai Tak Airport.
This commemorates the 100th anniversary of airport development. The former Kai Tak Airport, located on the east side of Kowloon Bay, began operations in 1925. It was used until the current Hong Kong International Airport opened in 1998.
Special flight CX8100, operated by an Airbus A350, will take off from Hong Kong International Airport at 4:00 PM, pass through Victoria Harbour, make a turn near Tung Lung Chau, and pass through Victoria Harbour again. It will then fly at low altitude around the Kai Tak Sports Park, redeveloped from the former Kai Tak Airport, where the Hong Kong Sevens is taking place. Weather conditions may cause changes.
