Ibis Styles Osaka Namba to Close on March 31, 2024
Hilton and ORIX Hotel Management have opened “Waldorf Astoria Osaka” on April 3.
Hilton’s top-tier brand “Waldorf Astoria” makes its debut in Japan. It is located in the Grand Green Osaka South Building Park Tower from the 1st to the 2nd floor and the 28th to the 38th floor, offering a panoramic view of Osaka from approximately 170 meters above ground. This is the fifth Hilton hotel in Osaka City.
The interiors were designed by Hong Kong-based designer Andre Fu, who blended the “Art Deco” style of New York’s Waldorf Astoria with traditional Japanese architecture, expressing Osaka’s unique story through vibrant design and visual beauty.
The hotel features 252 rooms including a Presidential Suite with an area of 193 square meters, a Waldorf Penthouse and Astoria Penthouse each at 139 square meters, and Deluxe Rooms at 48 square meters. The headboards feature a “kumiko” design, a traditional Japanese technique, set against a backdrop of washi paper.
The hotel houses four dining facilities: the lounge and bar “Peacock Alley,” the modern French brasserie “Jolie Brasserie,” the signature restaurant “Tsukimi,” and the destination bar “Canes & Tales.” It also offers a 24-hour fitness center, an indoor pool with views of Osaka Bay, the “Waldorf Astoria Spa” with four treatment rooms, a sauna, library, and banquet facilities including a 536-square-meter Grand Ballroom.
The General Manager is Andrew Moore, who joined Hilton in 2008 and has served as Sales Manager at Conrad Dublin and Cluster Sales Manager for Hilton around London, among other positions at Hilton Beijing and Conrad Seoul before becoming General Manager at Conrad Dublin.
The hotel is about a 4-minute walk from JR Osaka Station’s Umekita underground exit. Canopy by Hilton Osaka Umeda is also set to open in Grand Green Osaka in September 2024.
“Waldorf Astoria” first opened in 1893 in New York, USA. It was the first to offer en-suite bathrooms and electricity in all rooms, and 24-hour room service. The brand was later acquired by Hilton and currently has 34 locations in cities including Beverly Hills, Rome, Cairo, Dubai, and Bangkok.
