WestJet Airlines to Operate Tokyo/Narita-Calgary Route Daily Year-Round

WestJet Airlines has decided to operate the Tokyo/Narita-Calgary route daily throughout the year.

This route began in April 2023 as a seasonal service with three round trips per week, operated only during the summer schedule. An additional three round trips per week will be added to the 2024 winter schedule, making it a year-round service. The decision to increase flights was made due to growing demand.

Additionally, the code-sharing agreement with Japan Airlines (JAL) will be expanded to include the Tokyo/Narita-Nagoya/Chubu and Osaka/Itami routes. This enhances access to popular destinations within Japan and provides benefits such as through check-in and through baggage.

John Weatherill, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), commented, “Utilizing the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, WestJet Airlines will strengthen Calgary’s tourism pipeline by expanding transpacific flights and opening new paths for economic growth in Western Canada and globally. Today’s announcement of daily year-round flights on the Calgary-Tokyo route further reaffirms our commitment to improving access for Canadians to Asia.”
