Korean Air Launches Airbus A350-900 Service to Kansai
AirJapan plans to introduce its third aircraft in the latter half of the fiscal year ending March 2026.
Starting operations in February 2024, the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, configured with 324 all-economy seats, operates three routes: Tokyo/Narita to Singapore, Bangkok/Suvarnabhumi, and Seoul/Incheon.
Initially starting with one aircraft, the fleet now consists of two. Although there were frequent cancellations and delays due to the small number of aircraft initially, in the past three months, there have been no cancellations due to reasons other than weather. The plan aims to add two aircraft annually, reaching a six-aircraft fleet by the end of fiscal year 2025.
In the fiscal year ending March 2025, sales reached 11.7 billion yen, with 428,000 passengers and seat occupancy rates of 55.3% in the first half and 82.5% in the second half. The increase in inbound demand from Asia significantly improved second-half occupancy rates. The ticket price also improved from 24,847 yen in the first half to 28,976 yen in the second half due to enhanced yield management.
For the fiscal year ending March 2026, the company forecasts a 17.3% increase in sales year-on-year, a 13.1% increase in passenger numbers to 48,400, a seat occupancy rate of 74.9%, and a ticket price of 28,373 yen.
