Hokuriku Shinkansen Suspends Onboard Service for GranClass Meals and Beverages
JR East announced that services on the Utsunomiya Line between Kuki and Koga stations will be suspended from around 10:00 p.m. on May 4 to around 7:40 a.m. on May 5.
This suspension is due to bridge reconstruction and track switching work at the Furutonegawa River Bridge as part of river improvement works. Trains will turn back at Kuki Station for Ueno and Shinjuku directions, and at Koga Station for Utsunomiya direction.
Outside of the suspension times and sections, some train destinations and types will be changed, and the number of trains will be reduced. Alternative transportation will be provided through Tobu Railway, Tokyo Metro, and Toei Subway, and bus substitutes will operate in the suspended section.
If the construction cannot be carried out due to adverse weather conditions, it will be rescheduled for around 10:00 p.m. on June 7 to around 7:40 a.m. on June 8.
