Sichuan Airlines to Launch Chengdu to Athens Route from June 30, Four Weekly Rotations
Virgin Atlantic has launched its London/Heathrow to Riyadh route on March 30.
The route operates one round-trip per day using an Airbus A330-900 aircraft. It is also expected to transport cargo such as fresh food and pharmaceuticals.
The service anticipates a high volume of travelers primarily from Saudi Arabia, with connections expected to 12 U.S. cities via Delta Air Lines, in addition to those within the United Kingdom. Furthermore, the number of Saudi Arabians residing in the UK has expanded fivefold in approximately 20 years, indicating demand for visiting relatives. Beyond Riyadh, passengers can utilize Saudia’s network.
In preparation for the Riyadh route, the cabin crew, “Riyadh Core Crew,” underwent training on Saudi Arabian culture. Upper Class and Premium Class passengers are welcomed with Arabic coffee and dates upon boarding, and Halal meals are provided in all classes. A prayer is conducted before the safety video presentation.
This marks Virgin Atlantic’s first route to Saudi Arabia. Under the Virgin brand, Virgin Mobile Saudi offers services in Saudi Arabia.
