Plenus has opened its set meal restaurant “Yayoi Ken” in Indonesia.
This marks the eighth country for overseas expansion and the first after the pandemic. The first store opened in April at Gandaria City Mall in southern Jakarta. Initially, the menu features set meals, as well as rice bowls and noodle dishes, with plans to expand the menu in the future. The price range is from 600 to 1,600 yen, with a median of approximately 1,060 yen. Average sales surpass those in the Philippines and Malaysia.
Indonesia has a population of approximately 280 million people, with an average age of about 30 years, indicating a young demographic and a high proportion of the working-age population, suggesting further population growth is expected. Given the remarkable economic growth, increasing purchasing power, a high rate of dining out, and similarities in cuisine such as simmered and fried dishes common in Japanese cooking, the market is seen as highly receptive.
They are actively pursuing overseas business expansion and aim to open 10 stores in Indonesia over the next five years.
