Red Planet Hotels Japan Files for Bankruptcy
Mystays Hotel Management will change its company name to Iconia Hospitality effective July 1.
The company was established as Weekly Mansion Tokyo in 1999 by Tsukasa Weekly Mansion, inheriting the weekly mansion business. It entered the hotel business in 2005 with the operation of Hotel Mystays Maihama. It became a subsidiary of Fortress Investment Group in 2012 and changed its company name to Flexstay Management in 2013, and to its current name in 2014.
Currently, the company manages 179 contracted buildings with a total of 24,122 guest rooms, expanding its scale. The sales amount to approximately 140 billion yen. This year, Spa Resort Hawaiians, Phoenix Seagaia Resort, Cé la vie Resort Izumigo, and Yatsugatake Kogen Lodge have been added to its operations.
Although the company name suggests an image of long-term stays or accommodation-focused facilities, about half of them are resort hotels or Japanese-style inns, leading to the decision to change the name to reflect its status as a comprehensive hotel management company.
Additionally, a new loyalty program called “GoTo Pass” was launched on May 29. Membership and annual fees are free, and points can be earned through accommodation and in-house facility usage. The program also offers discounts and early check-in services. There are three membership tiers, with benefits corresponding to usage.
