Azul has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection with the United States Bankruptcy Court.
This move aims to reduce its debts by over 2 billion USD and optimize its fleet. Operations will continue.
Azul has entered into a restructuring support agreement with existing creditors and major aircraft lessors, Aircap, United Airlines, and American Airlines. A commitment for approximately 1.6 billion USD of DIP financing has been agreed upon to repay part of the existing debt.
