JAL and AA Consider Adding Alaska Airlines Group to Joint Venture
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) will hold the 81st IATA Annual General Meeting (IATA AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS) in Delhi, India, from June 1 to 3.
More than 1,700 people, including leaders of over 300 airlines that are members of IATA, government officials, suppliers, and media, will gather to discuss all topics surrounding the aviation industry. The host airline will be IndiGo. This is the second time the event is held in India, the first being 42 years ago.
On June 4, a keynote speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled. In India, the aviation industry directly creates 369,700 jobs and generates $5.6 billion in GDP. Including indirect effects and tourism, it contributes 7.7 million jobs and $53.6 billion to GDP.
At WATS, major issues faced by the aviation industry, such as financial forecasts, energy security, renewable energy, and the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), will be addressed.
IATA is an industry group composed of about 350 airlines, which account for more than 80% of global air traffic.
