Japan Airlines (JAL) has been using 100% biodiesel fuel, known as “B100 fuel,” in their towing tractors, which are ground support vehicles, at Itami Airport since May 26.
“B100 fuel” is a biodiesel made from waste cooking oil and vegetable oil, and it is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2.62 kilograms per liter compared to diesel oil. Ueda Oil Co. collects waste cooking oil from households and Mainami Trading’s Osaka refueling station manufactures and supplies the “B100 fuel.”
