JAL and AA Consider Adding Alaska Airlines Group to Joint Venture
All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Safran Seats have announced the new business class seat “THE Room FX,” unveiled at the Paris Air Show.
Developed in collaboration with the UK design company Acumen Design Associates, it will be introduced to the Boeing 787-9 aircraft from the fiscal year 2026 onwards.
The concept was devised based on the development experiences of the “THE Room” suite-type business class introduced on Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in 2019. FX stands for “Future Experience.”
The seat pitch is 103 inches in a “1-2-1” configuration. The room doors and walls have been slimmed down and curved lines have been adopted for the backrest. They are arranged alternately forward and backward. Compared to the current seats on the Boeing 787-9 aircraft, the width has been expanded, and a pre-reclining method has been adopted, with the backrest pre-reclined. The monitor size has been enlarged to 24 inches, and features such as wireless charging, USB-C/-A power, AC power, and Bluetooth connectivity have been adopted.
The Boeing 787-9 aircraft will have a total of 206 seats, including 48 business class seats, 21 premium economy class seats, and 137 economy class seats.
