Red Planet Hotels Japan Files for Bankruptcy
APA Group has acquired all shares of Ishin Hotels Group through APA Holdings, making it a wholly owned subsidiary.
Ishin Hotels Group operates 17 hotels under urban hotel brands such as “the b.” It recorded a net profit of 24.87 million yen in the fiscal year ending December 2024.
While APA Group had been expanding through direct ownership and franchising, it recognized the need to fully introduce rental and management contract (MC) methods as a new expansion model. Ishin Hotels Group specializes in operating through rental and MC methods, and its subsidiary acquisition is expected to accelerate growth. The addition of new hotel brands will also provide more options for users.
Ishin Hotels Group will continue to be led by President Richard Kong, maintaining its management policies and internal systems. APA Group, as a shareholder, plans to indirectly engage in management. Although it will participate in APA Hotel’s reservation service “APA Direct,” brand concepts and store strategies will be maintained without merging with the APA Hotel brand. Meanwhile, they are considering financial support for new openings, joint procurement of materials, and the unification of IT infrastructure.
