JAL and AA Consider Adding Alaska Airlines Group to Joint Venture
Japan Airlines (JAL), JAL Engineering, and Maeve Aerospace have signed a basic agreement to collaborate on the development of the electric hybrid aircraft “MAEVE Jet”.
The “MAEVE Jet” is a regional aircraft that combines a conventional gas turbine engine with battery-powered electric motors, reducing fuel consumption by 40%.
The three companies will cooperate by sharing development status, discussing the requirements and specifications needed for operation in Japan, and considering airport infrastructure, operational methods, in-flight monitoring systems, maintainability, maintenance and operational support systems, MRO business systems, and supporting the construction of new aircraft design systems.
Maeve Aerospace is an aircraft development company established in 2021 in the Netherlands, with bases in Munich, Germany, Delft, and Montreal, Canada.
