Qantas Airways Receives First Airbus A321XLR
The parent company of Malaysia Airlines, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), has placed an additional order for 20 Airbus A330-900 aircraft.
In 2022, as part of a widebody fleet renewal program, they ordered 20 aircraft. The first aircraft was delivered in November 2024, and they currently own four. The already ordered 20 aircraft will be introduced through a sale-and-leaseback with Avolon or leased from Avolon’s order. This expands the order for the same model to 40 aircraft.
The current fleet is configured with 28 business class seats and 269 economy class seats, for a total of 297 seats. They offer wider personal space, overhead luggage compartments, the latest in-flight entertainment, and high-speed Wi-Fi. Deployment is planned not only for the Asia-Pacific region but also for certain routes in the Middle East.
With this additional order, they anticipate improvements in passenger comfort, fuel efficiency, and enhanced competitiveness in major markets.
