JAL and AA Consider Adding Alaska Airlines Group to Joint Venture
United Airlines has started providing detailed information about connecting flights through its app.
The app offers personalized directions to the boarding gate of the connecting flight and estimated walking time, real-time operational status, advice for long layovers, and notifications if the connecting flight can wait when the connection time is short. Additionally, real-time weather radar updates are sent via text messages to help users understand how adverse weather conditions might affect flights in other regions.
In a beta test conducted in spring, 350,000 people used the new feature, achieving a 98% success rate in making connections. This summer, over 20 million users have booked connecting flights.
If a connection is missed, rebooking options are provided, allowing for rebooking and standby registration. Meal and hotel vouchers are automatically provided when applicable.
United Airlines introduced the AI-powered “ConnectionSaver” feature in 2019, resolving over 3.3 million connection delays.
