Tokaido Shinkansen Sets Up ‘Children-Friendly Cars’ for the Year-End and New Year Holidays
Eurostar and London St. Pancras High Speed have agreed to work towards increasing the transport capacity of St. Pancras International Station.
The upgrade will be carried out in three phases. Phase 1 will optimize security checks and border crossing processes, increasing processing capacity by 2,700 people per hour over the next 3 to 4 years. Phase 2 will improve the connection between the border area and the main concourse, with completion planned for 2028. Phase 3 aims to further enhance transport capacity by moving arrivals to the upper floor, among other initiatives. The focus is on refurbishing and redefining existing spaces and processes without major structural changes.
A study commissioned by London St. Pancras High Speed predicts that demand will triple by 2040, with annual passenger numbers rising significantly from 11 million to 35 million. Plans to launch services to Germany and Switzerland are projected for the 2030s.
