Airlines Implement Special Measures Due to Typhoon No. 7 Approaching Okinawa Flights
Japan Airlines (JAL) and Hulic are developing an international logistics hub, “WING NRT.”
This will be Japan’s first international logistics hub integrating air cargo facilities and logistics facilities to meet the increasing demand for international cargo. The air cargo facility will incorporate cutting-edge technological equipment, along with dedicated temperature-controlled storage for pharmaceuticals and high-performance refrigeration and freezing warehouses.
Located in the Shimofukuda area of Narita City, approximately 10 kilometers in a straight line from Narita Airport, the redevelopment area covers about 45.6 hectares. Currently consisting of forested areas, farmland, and wilderness, construction is set to begin in 2027, with operations commencing in 2029.
This district has been approved as the first priority promotion area under the Regional Future Investment Promotion Act in Chiba Prefecture, offering tax and investment incentives. It will serve as a base for precision instruments such as semiconductors, lithium batteries, cross-border e-commerce, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural and fishery products.
The Shimofukuda area will feature warehouses, vehicle garages, shared housing and dormitories, stores, restaurants, offices, factories, gas stations, EV charging stands, and hydrogen stations, along with improvements such as barrier-free sidewalks and lighting. By the end of fiscal year 2028, the Kita-Chiba Road will be extended, enabling access to Narita Airport and the Higashi-Kanto Expressway Narita Interchange (IC).
