China Southern Airlines Postpones Resumption of Osaka/Kansai-Changchun Route
Alaska Airlines will launch the Seattle-London/Heathrow & Reykjavik routes in spring 2026.
The Seattle-London/Heathrow route will operate one round trip per day. The aircraft used will be a Boeing 787-9, featuring 34 business class seats that can be fully reclined. London is the largest market for intercontinental routes from Seattle, with more than 400 passengers traveling daily. Coordination with American Airlines and British Airways will also be strengthened.
The Seattle-Reykjavik route will operate one round trip per day during the summer season, using a Boeing 737-8 aircraft tailored for long-haul routes.
Additionally, the airline revealed the design of the newly introduced Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Inspired by the aurora, the design is characterized by a deep midnight blue and rich emerald green. The first aircraft will be unveiled in January 2026, with the entire fleet receiving the new livery by spring. Currently, there are four aircraft in service, with plans to increase to a maximum of 17. A crew base for Boeing 787 aircraft will be established in Seattle.
Alaska Airlines plans to open 12 intercontinental routes from Seattle by 2030. London/Heathrow and Reykjavik will be the fourth and fifth destinations, respectively.
