POP MART Opens at Narita International Airport T2 on June 28, First in Domestic Airports
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the Ministry of Defense, and Ibaraki Prefecture have lifted the restrictions on international flights at Ibaraki Airport starting today, August 7.
Since the airport is shared with the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Hyakuri Air Base, until now, international flights were not allowed to operate on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and on Mondays from 1:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., and all day on Wednesdays.
Additionally, restrictions such as a one-hour interval between the departure of an international flight and the arrival of the next international flight, and limiting the time for international flight operations to within one hour per flight, have also been lifted. However, restrictions on overnight parking will continue.
Kazuhiko Oigawa, Governor of Ibaraki Prefecture, had requested the removal of these restrictions from Gen Nakatani, the Minister of Defense, on July 18. In a regular press conference, Governor Oigawa expressed expectations that it would provide a significant boost as they are progressing with discussions with airlines regarding the inauguration of new routes and increasing the number of flights. It has also been revealed that there have been requests for additional flights from Aero K and Tigerair Taiwan.
