ANA Sets ‘Toku-Tabi Mile’ for July 24-30: Tokyo/Haneda to Sapporo/Chitose for 7,500 Miles
Air Canada will change the criteria for awarding Aeroplan points and elite status to a spending-based system.
From January 1, 2026, points will be awarded based on the amount spent rather than the flight distance when using applicable Air Canada flights. One point will be awarded for every Canadian dollar spent. The surcharge is included, but taxes and fees are not. Depending on the status level, you can earn up to six times the points.
Additionally, elite status will be awarded based on a newly introduced Status Qualification Credit (SQC). SQC can be earned through ticket purchases, credit card usage, and more. For ticket purchases, up to 4 SQC per Canadian dollar spent on fares can be awarded. Using credit cards and utilizing applicable partner companies can earn up to 25,000 SQC each.
Milestone benefits are offered every 10,000 SQC, with additional rewards such as bonus SQC and status passes available. From 2027 onward, premium credit card members can earn a 10% SQC bonus based on the previous year’s usage.
The changes aim to make the status truly special while appropriately recognizing members who spend more and travel more, as well as actively participate in the program.
