American Airlines has introduced its 1,000th mainline aircraft.
A Boeing 787-9 equipped with the latest Flagship Suite business class arrived at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on August 29.
The largest subfleet is the Boeing 737-800 with 303 aircraft, followed by the Airbus A321 with 218 and the Airbus A319 with 132. Among widebodies, the Boeing 777-200ER is the most numerous with 48. The mainline fleet will reach 1,014 aircraft by year-end. The airline also operates 566 regional aircraft.
Since April, eight newly configured Boeing 787-9s have been delivered and deployed on the Chicago–London/Heathrow, Los Angeles–London/Heathrow, and Philadelphia–London/Heathrow routes. The carrier will continue assigning the type to services to and from London/Heathrow, adding the Dallas–London/Heathrow route in November, and within the next few months beginning deployment on select flights on the Dallas–Auckland, Dallas–Brisbane, and Dallas–Buenos Aires routes, as well as the Philadelphia–Zurich route.
