Amex-to-Rakuten point conversions earn 5% bonus in Japan
JCB, a Japanese credit card company, will launch the “J-POINT” service in January 2026.
This is a renewal of the current member loyalty program “Oki Doki Points.” Points will be awarded on the total monthly spending: 1 point (equivalent to 1 yen) for every 200 yen spent. Existing Oki Doki Points will be automatically converted into J-POINT at a 5x rate. In addition, for every 500,000 yen in annual spending, bonus points will be granted the following month, and payments made with MyJCB Pay and at partner merchants can earn up to 20x points.
A campaign returning a total of 600 million points runs through December 15 in Japan. Each month with spending of 100,000 yen or more counts as one entry, and 100 million points will be split among participants. Points are scheduled to be credited in late February 2026.
