Amex-to-Rakuten point conversions earn 5% bonus in Japan
Sumitomo Mitsui Card is running the “Ride and save with contactless payments! Get up to 20% back when you use eligible lines for three days” campaign in Japan from August 15 to September 15.
If you ride eligible railways in the Kanto and Tokai regions of Japan for three days using contactless credit card payment, you will receive up to 20% of your total fares during the period back in V Points. The maximum is 500 points. Eligible cards include Olive Flexible Pay and Sumitomo Mitsui Card (NL); full details are published on the dedicated campaign website.
Participating public transportation operators: Enoshima Electric Railway (Enoden), Keio Corporation, Keikyu Corporation, Shonan Monorail, Seibu Railway, Takao Tozan Railway, Tokyu Corporation, Toei Subway, Yurikamome, Yokohama Municipal Subway, Yokohama Minatomirai Railway, Izuhakone Railway (Sunzu Line), and Enshu Railway.
No prior entry/registration is required, and both physical card and smartphone contactless payments are eligible. Travel days are counted based on the date you enter the gates, from the first train to the last train each day. The bonus will be added on top of the regular 0.5% point accrual (1% for some cards), with points scheduled to be granted around the end of November.
