Japan’s Mt. Fuji Shizuoka Airport won’t compensate vehicles damaged in Sept. 4 parking flood
Hokkaido Airports will revise parking fees at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, Japan, for vehicles entering from October 10.
The changes aim to encourage a shift to public transportation and short-time use for pick-ups and drop-offs, helping to ease congestion. The operator will also begin developing a new surface parking lot and planning for a multi-story parking facility. Discount services for users being dropped off/picked up and for customers of shops inside the airport will be expanded.
Fees will be as follows for Lots A and B: free for up to 1 hour; up to 2 hours 1,000 yen; up to 3 hours 1,500 yen; and 500 yen for each additional hour thereafter. The maximum rate per 24 hours will be 3,500 yen in regular periods and 4,500 yen in peak periods. For Lot C, the 24-hour maximum will be 2,500 yen in regular periods and 3,000 yen in peak periods. At maximum, rates will be more than triple previous levels.
Lots A and B will offer up to 2 hours free with purchases of 3,000 yen or more at on-airport shops, and up to 3 hours free when using entertainment facilities. Lot C will newly be eligible for discounts: 1,000 yen off with purchases of 3,000 yen or more at shops, and 1,500 yen off when using entertainment facilities.
Within this year, a Lot D accommodating around 1,000 vehicles will be developed as a temporary parking area during congested periods, with sequential expansion targeting a total capacity of up to around 3,000 spaces.
