Two Robberies Targeting Japanese Nationals in Manila; Embassy of Japan Urges Avoiding Nighttime Walking
Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has issued a spot advisory urging caution due to ongoing protest activities in Nepal.
Following a ban on 26 social media platforms, anti-government demonstrations have erupted, and a series of arson attacks targeting facilities near the parliament and political party offices have been reported. Curfews have been imposed in various locations, including Kathmandu.
MOFA calls on Japanese nationals residing in Nepal and travelers to obtain the latest information, make every effort to ensure their personal safety, refrain from non-essential outings, and consider stockpiling water, food, and fuel.
Temporary airport closures, as well as flight delays and cancellations, have also occurred. For travel to the airport, MOFA additionally urges arranging vehicles permitted to operate during curfews, confirming routes, and prioritizing safety.
Between Japan and Nepal, Nepal Airlines operates three round trips per week on the Tokyo/Narita–Kathmandu route.
