Techo International Airport Opens in Phnom Penh, Cambodia
At airports across South Korea, there is a possibility of a large-scale strike by airport staff from tomorrow, September 19, through the Chuseok holiday period until October 9.
According to local newspapers including Maeil Business Newspaper and The Korea Herald, 15,000 workers such as security screeners belonging to the Korean Public Service and Transport Workers’ Union (KPTU) and others will launch a strike at all 15 airports nationwide.
Korea Airports Corporation, which operates regional airports, says that in the event of a strike it will maintain operations by deploying pre-secured substitute personnel under an emergency response system. It will also coordinate with the government and airlines.
The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Korea has advised those planning to use the airports to check the latest information through media reports.
