JR East to run retro-wrapped Yamanote Line trains in Tokyo for 100th anniversary
JR Central (Central Japan Railway Company), JR East (East Japan Railway Company), and JR West (West Japan Railway Company) will operate the Limited Express Hida, Shinano, and Nanki services with all-reserved seats from December 26 through January 4, 2026, in Japan.
Under normal operations, the Hida service has 1–2 unreserved cars, the Shinano has 2, and the Nanki has 1. Making all cars reserved will increase the number of ordinary-class reserved seats, allowing more passengers to book and be assured of a seat. If reserved seats are sold out, standing-room limited express tickets will be sold.
Going forward, the Hida, Shinano, and Nanki services are planned to operate as all-reserved mainly during peak-demand periods in Japan, such as Golden Week and the Obon holidays.
