Global Airline Disruptions After Cyberattack on Collins Aerospace
Emirates will open a flight crew training center.
The facility will span approximately 6,300 square meters and can accommodate six full-flight simulator bays. Emirates will invest USD 135 million and equip it with training capabilities for the Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X.
The simulators will be integrated with its in-house developed Pilot Support Station (PSS), allowing cockpit setup and flight plan creation on a dedicated device before training, maximizing learning effectiveness. The facility will also feature advanced 3D printing equipment capable of producing complex parts and structures that support the training devices, enabling cost savings of up to AED 1 million.
Two Airbus A350 full-flight simulators have already been installed, with four more to be added over the next few years. This will enable up to 1,000 pilots to receive 7,500 training hours per year.
Together with other training facilities, Emirates will ultimately operate 17 simulators, 11 of which will be for the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. This will expand pilot training capacity by 54% to 45,000 hours annually.
