Potential Large-Scale Strike at South Korean Airports During Chuseok (Sep 19–Oct 9)
Hong Kong International Airport completed the operation of about 600 scheduled flights on September 23.
As of 6:00 a.m. on September 24, a very strong Typhoon No. 18 (as designated in Japan) was moving west-northwest over the South China Sea at about 20 kilometers per hour. Its central pressure was 925 hectopascals, maximum sustained winds near the center were 50 meters per second, and the maximum instantaneous wind speed was 70 meters per second.
All passengers who were in the restricted area were able to depart. Cargo flight operations are expected to be partially restricted on September 24 as well. The Airport Authority Hong Kong has activated its flight schedule change management system to support the resumption of operations when the weather improves.
Also on the same day, Phase 1 construction of Terminal 2 was completed, and the new coach hall has begun operations. It provides parking space for 41 buses and ticketing counters for cross-boundary passengers.
