Lufthansa 787-9 to Debut 100th Anniversary Livery in December
Norwegian has converted orders for 30 Boeing 737-8 aircraft to firm orders.
It was the first European airline to take delivery of the Boeing 737 MAX in 2017, and also the first to operate the Boeing 737-8 on transatlantic routes.
This is the airline’s first direct order from Boeing since 2017, expanding its backlog to 80 aircraft. In 2022, it restructured its order to 50 firm Boeing 737-8s and 30 options. In connection with exercising the options, it also agreed to adjust the delivery timeline. Final deliveries are scheduled for 2031, enabling efficient and balanced fleet renewal aligned with lease expirations and market developments.
Geir Karlsen, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Norwegian, commented, “This landmark aircraft order, on attractive terms, secures fleet growth that supports our planned expansion and sustainability goals. By exercising the options and adjusting the delivery profile, we reinforce our commitment to operating one of the most modern and fuel-efficient fleets in Europe while maintaining flexibility. These aircraft will not only reduce emissions but also provide our customers with an even better travel experience. We are pleased that this order expands our strong, long-term partnership with Boeing.”
