JR Central to Roll Out TASC on Tokaido Shinkansen in Fall 2026, GOA2 by 2028
JR East, Mitsui Fudosan, and Morinaga Milk Industry have broken ground on the Tamachi Station West Exit Station Front District Development Project in Japan.
The former Morinaga Plaza Building in front of Tamachi Station’s west exit will be rebuilt. The project will improve the station-front rotary and the intersection, and construct a new barrier-free underground passage to the subway, enhancing safety and comfort around Tamachi Station and Mita Station. In addition to offices, retail, and an industry support facility, the project is expected to strengthen disaster-prevention functions by providing temporary accommodation for people unable to return home during emergencies.
The building will feature retail facilities operated by Atre on floors 1–3, an industry support facility on the 4th floor, and offices on floors 6–23. Morinaga Milk Industry will relocate its headquarters to some of the office floors.
The transportation plaza will be expanded from about 1,200 square meters to about 3,000 square meters, and the sidewalks will be widened to improve the pedestrian network. The intersection facing National Route 15 will be converted into a scramble crossing. The east–west free passage inside Tamachi Station will be widened, and the station-front deck plaza will also be expanded to alleviate congestion during rush hours.
As Phase 1 construction, the building is scheduled for completion by the end of March 2029. As Phase 2, a green space plaza is expected to be developed in fiscal 2033.
