Malaysia Airlines will launch the Kuala Lumpur–Chengdu/Tianfu route on January 9, 2026.
The service will operate one round trip per day, using Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The scheduled flight time is 4 hours 50 minutes from Kuala Lumpur and 5 hours 5 minutes from Chengdu/Tianfu.
Other airlines on this route include AirAsia X, Batik Air Malaysia, Sichuan Airlines, and Air China. Following the introduction of reciprocal visa exemption measures between Malaysia and China, demand for both business and leisure travel has been rapidly increasing.
With this addition, the number of destinations in mainland China served will expand to five, including Beijing/Daxing, Shanghai/Pudong, Guangzhou, and Xiamen.
