Honolulu’s Skyline Opens Phase 2 with Airport Station
Seibu Railway (Japan) will launch a new restaurant train offering full-course dining onboard starting in March 2028.
The train will be a newly built four-car set based on the Seibu 001 series “Laview,” with design by Kazuyo Sejima & Associates. Seating capacity will be around 70, and Car 1 will feature a private room for about eight people with a forward-facing panoramic view. The interior will use a gray base tone, with spotlights and table lamps that highlight the dishes and tableware.
Car 3 will be dedicated entirely to the kitchen. Restaurant development and food/service operations will be handled by Balnibarbi, which operates 102 restaurants across Japan and provides consulting for eateries. The group’s executive chef, Hideki Ofude, will supervise the cuisine.
The train is planned to run about 150 days a year, mainly on weekends, on the Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, and Seibu Chichibu Lines. Weekday charter operations are also envisioned.
