Shibuya Tobu Hotel to Close Around Late February 2027 Due to Lease Expiration
APA Hotel will open “APA Hotel Fukushima Station East” (tentative name) in February 2026.
Under a franchise agreement with Kawaguchi Shoji of the Kankyo Kaihatsu Group, the former Hotel Sunroute Fukushima, which ceased operations as of November 15, will be rebranded.
The building will have seven floors above ground and 83 guest rooms. Rooms will feature egg-shaped unit baths, APA Hotel’s original Cloud Fit Gran beds, 50-inch LCD TVs, and other elements of APA Hotel’s “New Urban Hotel” standard specifications.
Access: About an 8-minute walk from JR Fukushima Station in Fukushima City, Japan. About 15 minutes by car from the Fukushima-Nishi Interchange (IC) and Iizaka IC on the Tohoku Expressway.
Kankyo Kaihatsu, headquartered in Sakata, Yamagata Prefecture, acquired Kawaguchi Shoji in July. The company operates real estate and franchise businesses and will develop new ventures as an APA Hotel franchisee. APA Hotel already operates APA Hotel Fukushima Ekimae in Fukushima City, making this its second property there. The two properties aim to increase revenue through reciprocal guest referrals.
