Japan’s MLIT Issues Heavy Snow Warning for December 3–4
Uber is expanding its taxi-hailing service “Uber Taxi” to all prefectures across Japan.
From December 1, the service will expand to Toyama, Wakayama, Mie, Tottori, Yamaguchi, and Miyazaki prefectures, and from December 15 to Iwate and Saga prefectures. In addition, the service will also launch within the month in the towns of Niseko and Kutchan in Hokkaido.
As of January 1 this year, the service was available in 18 prefectures, but through service integration with Dennou Koutsuu and the growth in brand recognition, rapid nationwide expansion has become possible.
Users can request a taxi via the Uber app by entering their pick-up location and destination, then confirming the estimated fare based on the meter rate and the estimated time of arrival before being matched with a vehicle.
