NYK Cruises will operate the “Asuka III 2026 Japan Discovery Cruise” from May 12 to June 4, 2026.
This will be Asuka III’s first long cruise lasting 23 days, with two itineraries departing from Yokohama and Kobe. The ship will call at 15 ports in 14 prefectures in Japan, with overnight stays in Hiroshima and Kanazawa, and late-night departures from Nagasaki and Hakodate. The cruise includes a passage through the Kanmon Straits, cruising around the Tokara Islands, visits to Miyajima, Amanohashidate, and Matsushima—known collectively as Japan’s three most scenic views—and first-time calls at Hondo in Kumamoto Prefecture and Choshu Dejima in Shimonoseki Port. A fireworks display is planned for the departure from Shimonoseki.
At each port of call, shore excursions will be offered to experience local history, traditions, and climate, including a visit from Nagasaki to the kiln of the Living National Treasure, the 14th Imaizumi Imaemon, in Arita. Complimentary shuttle buses will operate where the port is distant from the city center. On board, a variety of entertainment programs will be held, such as lectures by Japanese painters and other special events.
The travel fare per person starts from 1.93 million yen for an Asuka Balcony D cabin based on double occupancy, or from 1.544 million yen (also based on double occupancy) for My ASUKA CLUB members.
Information sessions, where company staff will introduce the attractions of the cruise, onboard events, and ports of call, will be held sequentially from November 28. These will take place in Nagoya, Tokyo, Fukuoka, and Osaka, and advance reservation is required to attend.
