Starlux Airlines has announced that it will launch a Tokyo/Narita–Taichung route on March 30, 2026.
The airline will operate 4 round-trip flights per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, using Airbus A321neo aircraft. The flight time will be 3 hours and 40 minutes from Tokyo/Narita, and 3 hours and 30 minutes from Taichung.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Glenn Chai Chien-Hwa commented that while Tokyo is Japan’s center of politics, economy, and culture and one of the most important international travel destinations for Taiwan, travelers from central Taiwan heading to Tokyo have so far needed to travel north to Taoyuan. He added, “Passenger transportation costs and time costs will be greatly reduced, making the option of departing from Taichung more intuitive and comfortable, and enabling travelers to enjoy the efficiency and convenience of nonstop flights.”
To meet demand for group travel, the airline will partner with travel agencies to create tours from Taichung to Tokyo and the Greater Tokyo Area in Japan. These will be 4-night, 5-day tours visiting Tokyo Disney Resort, Mount Fuji, Lake Kawaguchi, Karuizawa, and other popular destinations, priced from 36,500 New Taiwan dollars.
