KLM Cancels Hundreds of Flights from Amsterdam Schiphol Due to Snow and De‑icing Fluid Shortage
East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and Japan Airlines (JAL) will launch a new transportation service that links Shinkansen bullet trains and aircraft, called “JAL de Hakobiyun,” on January 13, 2026.
This transportation service combines JR East Group’s rail luggage delivery service “Hakobiyun” and the JAL Group’s international air cargo service. It enables one-stop handling of transportation and customs procedures for rapid delivery of cargo.
Cargo can be shipped from stations where the Hakobiyun service is available to four cities and five airports in Asia—Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, and Taipei—via Tokyo’s Haneda and Narita airports.
As the first phase, on the same day they will transport marine products, including Echizen crab from Fukui Prefecture in Japan, to Taiwan and carry out a food promotion for Fukui Prefecture at Hotel Metropolitan Premier Taipei. The cargo will be transported by Shinkansen from Tsuruga Station on Kagayaki No. 508, then flown on flight JL99 from Tokyo Haneda Airport to Taipei Songshan Airport, with customs clearance to be carried out at Taipei Taoyuan Airport.
