American Airlines will enhance the customer experience at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and strengthen the competitiveness of this hub airport in the United States.
The airline is restructuring its schedule and increasing the number of banks of overlapping departures and arrivals from 9 to 13. These changes have been reflected in the operating schedule since December 27. During peak periods, the airport will handle an average of more than 100,000 passengers per day, with up to 930 daily departures, improving connectivity and early-morning connections.
The concentration of extremely short minimum connection times will be eased while preserving most existing connection opportunities and creating new ones. The connection rate for checked baggage will be improved, and an increase is expected in cases where baggage arrives before the passenger. By smoothing operations, the airline will reduce congestion in surrounding airspace and help ease crowding along passenger flows in the terminal.
In addition, a new Terminal F, scheduled for completion in 2030, will be constructed, where American Airlines will operate all 31 gates. The terminal will expand capacity for operating large aircraft and introduce the latest baggage-handling systems. It will also feature check-in facilities, lounges, and customs facilities.
In recent years, the airport has often been affected by severe weather such as thunderstorms, making it vulnerable to operational disruptions. The improvements aim to minimize the impact even when airport functions are paralyzed and enable faster recovery. The airline is also investing several million US dollars to enhance remote deplaning capabilities, working to reduce the number of diversions to other airports.
