New Chitose Airport Begins Pilot Test of Ride-Hailing Pickup Area
New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, Japan, will begin a pilot test of a dedicated “ride-hailing app pickup area” from January 15.
The three designated areas will be set up adjacent to the existing taxi stands within the airport: two locations at the domestic terminal and one at the international terminal. Uber and GO services will be available, allowing passengers to order taxis via smartphone.
Among airports in Japan, Kansai International Airport is scheduled to open a dedicated pickup area in April 2025. Similar initiatives are also being implemented at Haneda Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
