Taiwan Railways suspends Pingxi Line until January 30, 2026; bus replacement between Ruifang–Jingtong
East Japan Railway Company (JR East), Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central), and West Japan Railway Company (JR West) have announced the periods in fiscal year 2026 during which some conventional line limited express trains in Japan will operate with all seats reserved.
The policy will apply to the entire routes of Limited Express “Hida,” “Shinano,” and “Nanki.” Under normal operations, up to 2 cars on the “Hida,” 2 cars on the “Shinano,” and 1 car on the “Nanki” are designated as non-reserved seating.
The applicable periods will be the same as those during which all seats are reserved on the Tokaido–Sanyo Shinkansen “Nozomi” services, and in addition to the traditional busy seasons of Golden Week, the Obon summer holidays, and the year-end/New Year holidays in Japan, the Silver Week holidays will newly be included. The implementation periods are from April 24 to May 6, from August 7 to 16, from September 18 to 23, and from December 25 to January 5, 2027.
If all reserved seats are sold out, a limited number of standing-room limited express tickets will be sold at the same price as non-reserved limited express tickets.
